A new discovery Kalong River

Another beautiful destination was  discovered by the Activity Guys  of Coco Beach Island Resort. Embarking on a two-day adventure,  thee guys discovered  Kalong River and Aglaon Falls. These two places are found in the forest of Kamurong   Bugtong in Abra de Ilog, Occidental  Mindoro.  Kamurong Bugtong is where one of the Mangyan Projects of Coco Beach is located.

Day One - From Coco Beach, take a 45-minute boat ride to Kamurong Bugtong and visit the largest Iraya Mangyan Village in Mindoro. Upon arrival, relish the chance to  tour around the  Mangyan Project  where about  25 Mangyans work in our shop  doing handcrafted items  which are part of the Mangyan Project. A simple lunch at Kristine’s house follows.  Kristine is one of the nicest ladies in the  Mangyan Project. After a hearty lunch, trek for 2 ½ hours along the  Kalong River and spend the  night by the river side. Dinner is freshly caught fish  which your guide will catch from the river. The  Kalong River is  wide, clear and very clean where lot of fresh water fishes live like the yatib, baglaw  and  pait. Freshwater eels and shrimps also abound.

 

Aglaon Falls

Day Two -  After an invigorating breakfast, trek  for 3 hours up to the 15-meter high Aglaon Falls, passing through rivers and dense forest. Take an invigorating swim in its cool waters  and be back at Coco Beach late in the afternoon.
