As mentioned many times before, Sabang Bay is filled with surprises and is always worth a dive. You don’t have to go deep to find some of the rare marine life. During a shallow dive Thomas found a blue spiny lobster at only 5 meters depth.

This blue spiny lobster in Sabang Bay is only about 10 cm long.

Since this lobster is not mentioned in any of our books, Thomas had to make some research on the Internet to determine what they have seen.

The lobster is very rare at daytime (like many other lobsters) because it is hiding in small caves and crevices in reefs or under coral at depths up to 20 m. The blue spiny lobster has no claws, and two pairs of large antennae, like all spiny lobsters. The first pair of antennae is double ended, the second hard and spiny, both are usually white. The tail is blue-green while the legs are blue with white stripes.

With a length of up to 30 cm, it is used as a food source but also for aquariums because of its colorful attire.
