Trinidad, Ambert, Atanasio, Lorencia and Doc Ariel.

Here is our latest update on the Medical Mission held last September 11.

3 Mangyan natives were cleared and scheduled for operation- Trinidad Vargas, Lorencia Bidal and Atanasio Sigida. Ambet Tupaz was not operated on because the doctors found out that his eyes did not have cataracts but that he had scarring of eyes. To help him, Mang Ambet was given supportive medication.

September 15 – first operation…left eye of Trinidad, Atanasio and Lorencia
September 21 – second operation…right eye of Trinidad and Atanasio

No second operation for Lorencia as her right eye was found okay. However, the doctors suggested extending her stay in the hospital to ensure that she complies with the schedule for eye drops medication.

September 24 – The patients were discharged from the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRMMC). To further support their treatment, antibiotic eye drops were also given to them.

The operation was very successful. Our Mangyan patients feel relieved and are happy as they are now able to go about with their work with normal and healthy eyes. For this, they are grateful to the doctors of JRMMC, Coco Beach and to all the donors and supporters of the Medical Mission.
