Agbalala Falls Adventure

Taking a dip in Kaligaton Falls

Last week, Danish couples Mikkel and Jeannete Pedersen, Ole and Joy-len Sorensen, Filipino couple Evan and Cecilia Jamero and sweathearts Helle Sorensen (Ole’s sister) and Soares Goncalo (Portuguese) were the very first guests to visit this new excursion tour that Coco beach. Activity Guides Jojo and May brought them to the Agbalala Falls which boasts of three waterfalls but the first two falls are accessible as the third fall is yet to be reached.

Trekking to Lumantad Falls

At 9:30 in the morning, their adventure started with a 1 ½ hour boat ride to Agbalala in Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro. The waves were quite big that time and outrigger boat was not able to dock on the shore. This posed a challenge to the adventures but with Activity Guide Jojo assisting the group, they were able to reach shore. Jojo decided to borrow a flat boat (baruto) from “bantay dagat” just to reach the beach. From the beach, they took a 5-minute trek to the first waterfall - Kaligaton Falls which stands approximately 30 meters high. Here our guests enjoyed the crystal clear and cold water of the falls.

After an hour of swimming, the group decided to trek to the second waterfall- Lumantad which stands at approximately 60 meters high. To get to the falls, the group trekked for another 25 minutes and upon reaching Lumantad Falls, took another swim in the natural pool before going back to the beach for the barbeque lunch.

According to the group, the big waves and trekking made their adventure more thrilling and exciting.

Beach Volley…Coco Mangyan vs. Danish Dynamite

Mangyans versus the Dynamites

Another volleyball showdown at the beach took place between the Coco Mangyans and the Danish Dynamite team. To date, the Coco Mangyans have an impressive and perfect record of 7 wins and 0 losses.

The Danish players were Poul Andersen and his sons Michael, Nicholas, Kenneth and Nicklas together with their buddies Kim, Thomas and Mads. The Coco Mangyan team was made up of Darwin (activity guide), Phol (barman), Abet and Leo (waiters), Luca and his friend Kasper. Elian of Activity Center acted as the referee for the game.

At exactly 4pm the game started. It was a tightly fought game but the Coco Mangyans dominated the first two sets and eventually won the tournament. They now have a new record of 8 wins and 0 losses.

After the game, all the players shared drinks courtesy of Mr. Poul Andersen. The Danish Dynamite Team stayed for another 10 days at Coco Beach and agreed to have a rematch before they leave. Let’s wait and watch out for the Coco Mangyan/Danish Dynamite Showdown Part 2…

Whole Day Adventure with the Dulay Family

The Dulay Family during one of their excursions

A Filipino family had a great whole day adventure and a birthday celebration during their holiday at Coco Beach.

Dad Mel and Mom Ressy and their children Abby, Jela and the youngest, Iggy with their Ate Dang were all first timers at Coco Beach. They found Coco Beach through internet and by the suggestions from friends, they decided to spend their family holiday and celebration in our paradise resort.

The Dulay Family on a carabao cart to Tukuran

On their 2nd day at Coco Beach, they did a whole day adventure with Guide Jojo. From the resort, they took a 15 minutes boat ride to Muelle and then another 45 minutes jeepney ride to Tamaraw Falls where they took lots of pictures. After a short break at the falls, the Dulay family continued with their adventure on a carabao cart ride to the Tukuran Lagoon where they enjoyed swimming and had a sumptuous barbeque lunch by the river side. After lunch, their last adventure took them river kayaking downstream on the Jungle River passing through the Hanging Bridge of Saclag.

On their 3rd day, May 23, Iggy celebrated his 10th birthday. They started the day by attending holy mass at Puerto Galera and to thank God for all the blessings they have received so far. After Mass, they went around the town and bought some souvenirs items for every one and a gift for Iggy.

That night, the Dulays had a simple but happy dinner at the resort. According to them, they find Coco Beach an excellent place for family vacations as well as for other occasions. As with previous happy and contented guests, the Dulays promised to come back to Coco Beach for their next vacation.
