CJ  Fernandez Enterprises’ Holiday Escapade!

Holiday Escapade in Coco Beach with the CJ Fernandez Enterprise

The CJ Fernandez Enterprises Inc. spent 3 days and 2 nights  here at Coco Beach Island Resort over the weekend. Dubbed “ Holiday Escapade 2010”,  the group  of 72 guests, accompanied by their Senior Vice President Mr. Mon Garcia, spent a memorable weekend filled with activities, dining and relaxing.  The  guests  from CJ Enterprises  came  from all over the Philippines and even as far north of Luzon to partake in this incentive travel  for  dealers of Good Year tires.

On their first night, the group had a Filipino buffet on the beach. They had dishes expertly prepared  by  our chef  and his crew like binagoongang baboy, inihaw na pusit, bistek tagalog, pan fried tuna and enseladang talong. The rest of the evening was spent  karaoke singing while  they shared beer and other drinks which bonded the group together.

Young and old they took on the Amazing Race challenge

The next morning, they enjoyed a relaxing morning at Long Beach and Coral Garden  where they had plenty of opportunity for swimming, sunbathing and snorkeling.

At 4 in the afternoon, the group started to shout, swim and run everywhere in the resort as they faced  several challenges during the Coco Amazing Race which our Activity Guides expressly prepared for them.  They also enjoyed playing tennis  and  basketball with some of the Staff of Coco Beach while others screamed their heads off as  they were shot through the air in our exhilarating activity, Coco Jump.

On their last night, they had a barbeque dinner party by the beach while the Coco Band  sang some acoustic songs for them. As in typical Filipino tradition, the night was spent  karaoke singing once again much to their enjoyment.

Talking with the guests, many said that this was their first time to come to Coco Beach  and  they all had a wonderful time. They also found the place very beautiful and restful. Many also said that they would like to come back here with their friends and families   soon.

After a few instructions, they've tried scuba for the first time

To  the dealers and employees of CJ Fernandez Enterprises, we thank you for choosing to spend your weekend with us and we look forward to seeing you back!

Tamaraw Falls & Tiboy River Adventure

The group before their kayak through Tiboy River

A group of 10 Danish people had a great whole day adventure with Activity Guides Ellian and Romel  as they went to see the famous Tamaraw Falls and went kayaking in the Tiboy River.

Prior to this, some of them had already been around Puerto Galera exploring its the beautiful beaches and coves and did lots of snorkeling and scuba diving. But like true explorers, they wanted to see more of the place’s natural beauty and wonders.

Barbecue lunch at Tamaraw Falls

So one early morning, the group of Allan Graa & Tina Nord, the Hansen family Henning, Liselotte, Lasse & Ida and the Stobbie family Morten, Connie, Emil & Kim left  Coco Beach for their whole day adventure. They took a boat to Muelle, and from there rode the jeepney Tamaraw Falls. Along the way they enjoyed Puerto Galera’s seascape and forested mountains.

After a short break at Tamaraw Falls, the group continued their journey to the Tiboy River in the town of Baco. Upon arrival, they were given a safety briefly and some precautions on the kayaking activity  by their guides. With that done, the group began to paddle downstream enjoying the silence of their surroundings  and flowing down with the water  while wild birds flew overhead.

And off they go to tackle the rapids

After an hour of kayaking, the group decided to take a short break on a small island in the middle of the wide river where they  bathed in fresh cold water. They then continued kayaking for another 30 minutes until they reached the pick-up point before going back to Tamaraw Falls where they had  a hearty barbeque lunch.

Energetic Hansen Family

The Hansen Family where Henning gets his medal for his 4th run

Last week, the Hansen family visited Coco Beach for the 3rd time and had a week long  holiday with us. Parents Henning & Liselotte and their children Lasse & Ida were such an energetic family that they had non stop activities and excursions almost everyday.

The Hansen family went  snorkeling, diving, coco jumping, riding carabao cart riding to the Tukuran lagoon and  kayaking downstream with  the rapids of the Tiboy River. They also went to see the world’s smallest active volcano, the Taal Volcano in Tagaytay and even went  horse back riding to the crater of the volcano.

On their last day, they decided to walk around the resort. At 9:30 am, they started the wogging trail, but not only once….Liselotte and Lasse did it 3 consecutive times and Henning did it 4 consecutive times, jogging and running until  the last leg of the trail. For this amazing display of physical strength and endurance the Activity Staff gave the family them a medal of appreciation for being the most active and energetic family Coco Beach ever had.

The Hansens during their Tiboy River expedition

According to the Hansens, Coco Beach is such a lovely place with so many things to do you will never get bored. They find the place relaxing and so enjoyable, and the staff are always helpful, friendly and smiling.

Crocodile Snake Eel & Rescue Divers

If you are lucky, you can spot the head of a crocodile snake eel (Brachysomophis crocodilinus) while the rest of its body is buried in the sand. It is especially in the area around Sabang wrecks where you can see it.

The snake eel reaches a length of 1.20 meters but divers normally only see the head.

During last week Neil was teaching a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course for Karsten and on the underwater photo part, they were extremely lucky to get the following pictures of a double lined mackerel getting too close to a snake eel.

A crocodile snake eel attacking a totally surprised double lined mackerel.

With a hard blow to the neck of the fish, the snake eel paralyses the fish and nearly knocks it unconscious.

The double lined mackerel lying in the sand after the hit.

The second punch was to the stomach and you can clearly see the marks from the snake eel’s teeth. Then the big struggle started to get the mackerel headfirst into the sand.

Young and “old” PADI Rescue Divers.

As mentioned before, the specialty of the year is our Rescue Diver course. And that is what Lise read in our newsletter. So when she arrived in Coco Beach the first thing she did was to go to the dive center and signed in for the course.

Lise is listening carefully to the briefing before she goes out to practice some rescue skills.

Back in 2008 Lise was on her first visit to Coco Beach and at that time she really got hooked on diving. She finished her PADI Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver course in only 6 days at an age of only 12 years.

So at the age of 14 years, she is now the youngest Rescue Diver we ever certified. Congratulation Lise…from all the staff at Coco Divers.

But that is not all, we also just certified our oldest Rescue Diver ever. Steen was reading our newsletter and decided to take his Rescue Diver course when he came to Coco Beach.

Steen is getting a short briefing before he has to rescue a victim in the water.

So at the age of 58 Steen can call him self a newly certified Rescue Diver. Well done Steen.
